      It is lately reported in South Korea that NCsoft has just set about launching the Lineage 3 project, which is totally different from the previously announced Lineage Eternal.


      According to the South Korean media, the dev team for Lineage 3 was gathered on Feb. 29. In fact, it was originally one of NCsoft's inner teams called NT and after NCsoft decided to establish a series for all the Lineage projects, it inherited the Lineage title. At the same time, the dev team for Lineage Eternal also officially changed its name from LF to Team Eternal, meaning the development for Lineage ...

      On January 9th, 2012, NC Soft filed a complaint in New York alleging that the makers of TERA Online took certain trade secrets from the development of Lineage 3, which has now been revealed to be Lineage Eternal.

      Without getting into any of the details around the legal matters contained in the complaint, we have put together the "tidbits" about Lineage Eternal that can be gleened from it. Note that NC Soft may have re-evaluated many of the ideas in the complaint and even abandoned them in light of the TERA matter. But still, the complaint provides some good insight into the direction that they are taking with Lineage Eternal.

      The good folks over at MMORPG.com have "worked with NCsoft to bring you info." Most of the information was covered during the G-Star 2011 coverage, but there are some new tidbits in the article. Check out the full article HERE.

      The game has been in development for about 3 years already and has a team of about 80 people working on it. The main focus has been the epic battles in the game from the beginning with other parts being added in as development continues. LE uses an engine developed by NCSoft which also contains some great interaction with the environment. Players can expect some serious damage when a battle occurs with some major interaction on the environment. All of this was built into the engine to improve the players' battle experience. In the Youtube game play video that was released, you can see a ton of monsters and heroes on the screen. NCSoft said that up to 500 monsters and characters were on the screen. NCSoft is doing a lot to optimize the gameplay for a lot of players at once.

      MMOsite sat down with members of the Lineage Eternal development team at NC Soft for a brief Question and Answer session, which they were nice enough to translate. Questions were centered around the Diablo-esque gameplay choice, instancing, large scale pvp, game setting, classes and races.

      The G-Star event is the South Korean version of E3, the largest video game conference and promotional event in the country. NC Soft announced in the Premier, which occurs a couple days before the event itself, that the well known Lineage series will include a third installment, entitled Lineage Eternal!
